Network Operations Center (NOC)
Administrator (using Kaseya IT Automation Platform)
This position is responsible for administering our Network
Operations Center (NOC) and delivering services to approximately 2,000
managed systems (servers, desktops and laptops) using the Kaseya IT
Automation platform (branded as our "WolfTrack System").
NOC Administrator duties include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Deployment: Deploying and configuring
Agent software on servers, desktops and laptops for clients;
Removing Agent software from computers being retired;
Managing machine groups and user accounts.
- Monitoring: Configuring, updating and
assigning monitoring sets; Reviewing monitoring alerts;
Working with our clients, ServiceDesk staff and Field staff to respond to
alerts from pro-active monitoring.
- Scripts/IT Automation: Creating Kaseya
scripts, VBS scripts and batch files - for routine
maintenance and performance optimization; Creating Kaseya
scripts, VBS scripts and batch files for one-time and ad-hoc situations; Scheduling scripts;
Executing scripts; Reviewing script execution results.
- Patch Management: Watch for
availability of newly released patches/updates; Testing
patches on lab computers, WCI production network, and select
client computers; Reviewing public and private newsgroups
for IT community feedback;
Approving/Denying patches in Kaseya Patch Policies;
Scheduling patch auditing; Scheduling
patch deployment; Reviewing patch management reports;
Working with our clients, ServiceDesk staff and Field staff
to troubleshoot and solve issues with
patch installations.
- Asset Management: Scheduling auditing
of hardware and software.
- Antivirus/Antispyware: Executing
scripts to uninstall prior antivirus software, and/or work
with clients and our technical staff to manually
uninstall prior antivirus software; Configuring KES/AVG
antivirus software settings; Deploying and configuring
antivirus software to servers, desktops and laptops;
Monitoring antivirus status; Working with our clients,
ServiceDesk staff and Field staff to troubleshoot virus
related issues and to perform virus/spyware/malware
remediation work.
- Backup Imaging Software: Configuring
Acronis imaging software settings; Deploying and configuring
imaging software; Manging server/network Shares for image
storage; Monitoring image creations; Working with our
clients, ServiceDesk staff and Field staff to
troubleshoot image issues.
- Reports: Creating reports - for routine
use and for automated monthly reports; Creating reports -
for one-time, ad-hoc situations; Scheduling and configuring
periodic reports for delivery to clients; Review monthly
automated reports for accuracy and confirm delivery.
- Miscellaneous: Answer questions from
clients and WCI staff regarding WolfTrack System/Kaseya;
Provide periodic education/training to WCI technical staff
on WolfTrack System/Kaseya ; Conduct periodic introductory
training class to clients on WolfTrack System/Kaseya;
Maintaining and creating various checklists for WolfTrack
System/Kaseya tasks; Actively participate in Kaseya User
Forum and ongoing Kaseya training sessions and webinars;
Working with Kaseya Technical Support to report and resolve
issues; Documents and records work performed in Time &
Billing system, accurately and on a timely basis;
Documents and records work performed in Case Management
system, accurately and on a timely basis; Attend annual
Kaseya User Conference; Managing NOC hardware and software.
Training and 3+ years hands-on experience with the Kaseya IT
Automation platform is required. Training and experience with
other network management platforms is helpful (such as Zenith, N-Able,
Level Platforms).
At least a basic level of hands-on programming experience is
required - with Kaseya scripting, VBS scripts, DOS batch files
and PowerShell. Stronger programming experience is preferred.
Training and hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 and Windows XP/Vista/7
operating systems is required.
Training and hands-on experience with
the following is required: network administration; user account administration; computer
account administration; security and permissions; Group Policies; Microsoft Exchange Server; tape backup software; network-based antivirus
solutions; anti-spam software; firewall appliances; remote access (VPNs,
OWA, smartphones).
Specific experience with the following is desired/helpful: Microsoft
Small Business Server 2003 and 2008; Terminal Services/Citrix; Symantec
Backup Exec; Symantec Backup
Exec System Recovery (BESR); Acronis True Image; Acronis; Symantec Antivirus Corporate
Edition; Symantec Endpoint Protection; AVG Network Edition; GFI Mail Essentials
software; Postini email filtering service; APC PowerChute;
SonicWALL firewall appliances.
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) 2003 or Microsoft Certified
Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003 is the preferred certification for
this position. We will consider an applicant with strong work
experience who has not yet passed all of the certification
exams, but that applicant must commit to completing the MCSA 2003
certification (or the newer MCITP: Server Administrator 2008
certification) requirements within the first several months of employment.
The ideal candidate will have the above technical skills and
experience, a
professional manner, excellent verbal and written communication skills,
strong multi-tasking and time management skills, and several
years of of hands-on experience with the support
of a variety of Microsoft-based networks for small and mid-size
businesses.
The NOC Administrator will typically work weekdays at our office in
Murrysville, PA (approx 20 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh). Some evening work and weekend work is required,
which may be performed from a home-office via web portal and
remote control.
